Kristen Stewart: " Amo i film che trattano il processo di realizzazione dei film stessi. "
Due anni dopo On the Road di Walter Salles, Kristen Stewart è tornata, Venerdì 23 maggio, a Cannes per il suo ruolo in Sils Maria di Olivier Assayas. Notevole dall’inizio alla fine, la star della saga di Twilight interpreta l'assistente di una famosa attrice, interpretata da Juliette Binoche.
Come è stata la proiezione?
Davvero buona. Ciò può dipendere dal fatto che sono americana, e noi consideriamo il cinema principalmente come intrattenimento, ma non pensavo che un film così sfacciatamente filosofico potesse interessare un pubblico di queste dimensioni. Tuttavia,sembra sia questo il caso, credo.
Insieme a quello di Chloë Grace Moretz , anche il tuo personaggio racchiude in sé l'America in un film molto europeo ...
È la prima volta che ho girato un intero film in Europa, è vero. Inizialmente si parlava del fatto che dovessi interpretare il personaggio di Chloe. Penso sarebbe stato un errore. Ho avuto l’occasione,attraverso il mio personaggio, di poter esprimere il mio giudizio sul largo consumo delle falsità create dalla stampa. E se ci pensiamo, questo è un fenomeno strano che arricchisce solo le persone. Perché non ci si accresce culturalmente? La mia idea era quella di mostrare nel film ciò che penso realmente di questa assurdità. Olivier ha trovato le parole giuste.
Cosa ti ha fatto accettare il ruolo?
E’ stato Charles Gilbert, produttore di On The Road, mi ha detto che Oliver era il regista perfetto per me. Lo script mi è piaciuto immediatamente. Olivier ha detto di aver scritto la sceneggiatura senza pensare a me. Infatti, la sua prospettiva sul consumo dell'arte era già lì. Lasciatemi solo dire che grazie alla mia presenza alcuni passaggi hanno assunto caratteristiche più eccitanti, questo a causa delle mie esperienze passate.
Eri consapevole della sua storia nel mondo del cinema?
Sils Maria sembra molto diverso rispetto ai suoi film precedenti, è tranquillo e riflessivo. Juliette lo ha spinto a scrivere circa due diverse generazioni di donne artiste, esattamente su ciò a cui rinunciano per vivere della loro arte e su ciò che guadagnano in cambio.
Questo è un regista che gira magistralmente i movimenti…
Ha orchestrato le sue scene con fare meticoloso, ma non mi sono mai sentita costretta nei movimenti. Avevo la sensazione di ballare con il cameraman , che mi raggiungeva quando mi spingevo un po’ troppo lontano rispetto al posto in cui mi sarei dovuta trovare. Ma le riprese sono state effettuate in totale libertà, erano fluide e serene. Tutto ciò ha permesso di rendere le scene ancora più drammatiche, e di viverle fino in fondo.
Una parola sulla tua collaborazione con Juliette Binoche?
Oh, mio Dio, siamo così diverse! Lei ripeteva la parte in continuazione. Da parte mia, ho imparato le mie battute 20 minuti prima di ogni scena. Noi, io e lei, abbiamo un background simile; ma il nostro modo di fare le cose, non potrebbe essere più diverso.
Sei circondata da uno stuolo di assistenti. Sono stati loro ad ispirarti nel tuo ruolo?
Ne ho avuti moltissimi. E’ una dinamica molto interessante. Nel momento in cui il mio personaggio si rende conto che risponde solo alle richieste, ma può pretendere di più da se stessa, se ne va. Ho visto tanti rapporti professionali sbriciolarsi così. E' triste, perché è un lavoro duro, che ti prende tanto,di notte e di giorno. Amo i film che trattano il processo di realizzazione dei film stessi.
In "Maps to the Stars", il film di David Cronenberg, in concorso a Cannes, Robert Pattinson interpreta l'assistente di una star del cinema. Lo hai visto?
Kristen: Non ancora! Lo farò.
Cinque anni dopo "Adventureland", stai di nuovo collaborando con Jesse Eisenberg in "American Ultra" di Nima Nourizadeh ...
Jesse e io abbiamo una bella complicità. Non abbiamo paura di mostrare un po’ di nervosismo. Si tratta di una commedia d'azione, molto commerciale, ma entrambi la prendiamo molto sul serio.
Penso che quello che voglia dire il mio personaggio in Sils Maria è che se è ben fatto, un film commerciale può toccarti le corde. Non è necessariamente il caso dei film pretenziosi.
How was the screening?
Really well. This may be because I'm American, and we consider the cinema first as entertainment, but I do not think a film can so brazenly philosophical interestpublic of this size; Yet this was the case, I think.

On the Road after he had produced, Charles convinced me that Oliver was the perfect director for me. The script I immediately packed. Olivier told me he had written without thinking of me. In fact, his gaze on the consumption of art was already there. Say that my presence just made some passages a little more exciting, because of my past experiences.
Did you know his movies?

A word about your collaboration with Juliette Binoche?
Oh my God, as are so different! She keeps repeating. For my part, I learn my lines twenty minutes before each scene. We, she and I, a similar background; but our way of reaching is radically different.
You are surrounded by a crowd of assistants. Have you inspired them to your role?
I had so much! This is a very interesting dynamic. A From the moment my character realizes she only respond to requests, but can give more of herself, she goes. I saw professional relationships disintegrate so. It's sad, because it is a tough job, which consumes you day and night. I love films about making films.
