Venerdi 16 Agosto,Robert Pattinson, attore e protagonista di grandi successi del calibro di The Twilight Saga e Water for Elephants, si è recato al Children Hospital di Los Angeles per visitare i paziente e portare un po’ d’allegria. Ragazzi provenienti da tutto l'ospedale, tra cui il reparto di riabilitazione acuta,il reparto dei bambini affetti da neoplasie e malattie del sangue,e l’istituto cardiocircolatorio,si sono riuniti nel settore dedicato ai ragazzi per accogliere un ospite a sorpresa. Quando Pattinson è arrivato, una giovane ragazza era così stupita che rideva e piangeva allo stesso tempo. Ma l'attore,un ragazzo con i piedi ben piantati in terra,ha attraversato la stanza rapidamente e si è subito gettato nell’impresa di decorare cornici a fianco dei pazienti. Pattinson ha riso molto della sua stessa creazione, una cornice rosa con dei cuori,tentando senza successo di convincere la sala intera delle sue "terribili" capacità artistiche.
La star ha gentilmente posato per innumerevoli fotografie,e ha firmato la cornice di ogni paziente prima di visitare due pazienti affetti da fibrosi cistica,e grandi fan di Twilight,che non hanno potuto lasciare le loro stanze.
"Non riuscivamo a smettere di sorridere quando uno dei pazienti è rimasto così abbagliato da non riuscire nemmeno a parlare.Si potrebbe dire che significasse il mondo per lei,piangeva e sorrideva allo stesso tempo” ha detto Lyndsay Hutchison, funzionario della pubblica amministrazione dell’ Ospedale pediatrico di Los Angeles. "L'altra bambina lo ha preso in giro chiedendogli senza sosta di fare l’accento americano.Sono diventati subito amici”
"Robert era così nervoso all'idea di incontrare i ragazzi,non voleva deluderli,questo a dimostrazione di quanto umile sia.Lui è stato incredibilmente premuroso e gentile.Forse lui non ha capito completamente quanto ha regalato a questi ragazzi e quanto positivo sia stato l’impatto a lungo termine.

Pattinson ha avuto modo di visitare l'ospedale grazie anche al fatto che il suo prossimo film Maps to the Stars, che Pattinson sta attualmente girando a Los Angeles,avrà una breve scena (non con Pattinson) davanti all’ Ospedale pediatrico di Los Angeles. On Friday, Aug. 16, Robert Pattinson, actor and star of mega-hit movies “The Twilight Saga” and “Water for Elephants” dropped by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to spread cheer and visit with patients.

Teens from across the hospital—including the Acute Rehabilitation Center, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and The Heart Institute—gathered in the hospital’s Teen Lounge for a surprise guest. When Pattinson arrived, one young girl giggled and cried in awe. But the down-to-earth actor quickly settled the room and jumped into arts and crafts, decorating picture frames alongside patients. Pattinson laughed at his own creation—a pink frame with hearts sketched in—and tried unsuccessfully to convince the room of his “terrible” artistic skills.

The star graciously posed for endless photographs and signed every patient’s picture frame before heading off to visit two cystic fibrosis patients and huge Twilight fans who were unable to leave their rooms.

“We couldn’t help laughing and smiling when one of the patients was so starstruck she that couldn’t speak. You could tell it meant the world to her—she was tearing up and smiling ear to ear as we were leaving,” said Lyndsay Hutchison, senior public information officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “The other little girl teased him relentlessly and begged him to do an American accent. They were instant friends.”

“Robert was so nervous about meeting the kids—he didn’t want to let them down—which is a testament to how humble he is. He was incredibly gracious and kind. He will probably never fully understand what a huge lift he gave to these kids today, and how it will positively impact them over the long term,” shared Child Life specialist, Ana Vega.

Pattinson was able to visit the hospital because an upcoming movie, “Maps to the Stars,” which Pattinson is currently filming in Los Angeles will feature a short scene (not featuring Pattinson) in front of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
