C'è una vita dopo Twilight?Questa è la domanda alla quale l’attore sta cercando di rispondere mentre presta il suo talento al cinema d’autore e il suo sex-appeal alla campagna Dior.
"La cosa più importante è essere cool" Dopo cinque anni trascorsi nell'occhio del ciclone di Hollywood, Robert Pattinson lo ha finalmente capito.La rivelazione non gli è arrivata dal nulla,mentre portava a spasso il suo cane per le strade di Los Angeles. Abbiamo sempre percepito quella sorta di disagio che si manifesta quando si parla di lui.E per lui è stato sempre difficile nascondere(o forse semplicemente non ha mai cercato di farlo)il fatto di non sentirsi realmente a suo agio nel film per il quale ormai è un’icona. “Recitare in film che non saresti mai andato a vedere complica le cose, è difficile parlarne, difficile promuoverlo,difficile instaurare quella determinata connessione con il pubblico.Prima di incontrare David Cronenberg,che mi ha offerto il ruolo in Cosmopolis,mi sono sempre sentito come se i ruoli mi fossero caduti addosso,senza aver mai avuto una reale possibilità di scelta. Stavo cercando di non andare a fondo. Per la prima volta, mi sono sentito come se fossi stato scelto per il mio talento. David mi ha dato fiducia.Ha cambiato il mio modo di vedere per quanto riguarda fare l’attore.
Non è il momento migliore per diventare il volto di un importante marchio di profumi,prestando il volto(in cambio di un sacco di soldi)a Dior Homme e vedere la propria immagine sui cartelloni pubblicitari in tutto il mondo? Beh, non proprio. Naturalmente, Dior non è stato il primo marchio ad aver sollecitato Rob Patz.Prima di loro,altri hanno cercato di far soldi sfruttando l’enorme popolarità del protagonista di Twilight. Ma sembra che il rispettabile team francese abbia trovato le parole giuste per convincerlo.O meglio “la” parola giusta:libertà. Pattinson l’ha utilizzata per realizzare un suo sogno:girare con con Romain Gavras,regista francese di talento,che alterna il super cool (il video musicale "Bad Girls" di MIA) e il super controverso(il video musicale "Stress" di Justice). “Cercavo di contattarlo da un anno,ma non rispondeva mai alle mie chiamate.Quando Dior mi ha contattato,ho pensato tra me e me ‘sono sicuro che vorrebbe lavorare con me se gli proponessi la pubblicità di Dior’”.Bingo!!Gavras accetta la sfida e ridefinisce l'immagine dell’attore in cerca di una legittimazione artistica mentre lo aiuta a dar vita alla campagna Dior.
l film che ha diretto è davvero raffinato come lo champagne, un concentrato di bellezza con un’influenza degli anni ’60,in cui Rob e la modella Camille Rowe sono giocosi, fumano sigarette, guidano ad alta velocità una vecchia BMW decappottabile sulla spiaggia ...Una reale atmosfera New Wave,seducente e fresca.La star esprime la sua ammirazione nei confronti dell’ “anarchico” Gravas : "Lui vede il mondo in un modo completamente differente, è molto fiducioso.Io sono più nevrotico, è irritante, ma al tempo stesso, la mia insicurezza è l'unica cosa di me stesso che trovo.. interessante. "
Sia ben chiaro, con Robert Pattinson, c'è un significativo equivoco. La sua storia d'amore con Kristen Stewart,con tutti gli alti e bassi di questo rapporto e la rottura di qualche mese fa, non ha aiutato le cose.E lui ne è consapevole “La gente mi ha visto in uno o due film ed è giunta alla conclusione che ciò che vede è ciò che io sono.Ed è normale. E’ mia la responsabilità di cercare i registi con i quali voglio lavorare.Ma per farlo devo aggirare l’ostacolo dato dalla timidezza.E’ quello che mi è successo qualche giorno fa:ho conosciuto una persona che ammiro molto ad una cena, gli ho mandato un sms il giorno dopo dicendogli che avrei tanto voluto lavorare con lui.Dopo tre ore passate ad aspettare una risposta da parte sua,ho avuto l’istinto di mandargli un altro sms con “Scusa,scusa,è stato così presuntuoso da parte mia” Ma poi finalmente lui mi ha risposto.
Appassionato come una giovane ragazza innamorata, Pattinson ha quella miscela di passione,distacco e lucidità estrema che rende complicata la sua vita lavorativa quotidiana.
Ancora una volta, Cosmopolis e la sua prima apparizione al Festival di Cannes hanno rappresentato una svolta nella sua carriera: "mi sono ripromesso di fare solo ciò che amo". Non proprio facile nel paese delle produzioni ad alto budget dove i professionisti ti consigliano di costruirti un pubblico maschile "Io non so nemmeno cosa significhi costruirsi un pubblico maschile.Non posso costringere i ragazzi ad andare a vedere i miei film” mi dice ridendo.Ma il giovane attore,che non è così ingenuo,ha capito che essere cool è uno dei requisiti per essere presi in considerazione per il cinema indipendente. Per ora, presumibilmente sarà protagonista del prossimo film di Werner Herzog, con James Franco e Naomi Watts(per ora non conferma la cosa) e ha appena finito le riprese di The Rover, il primo film diretto da David Michôd,popolare sceneggiatore,autore di "Hesher" e "Animal Kingdom", molto vicino ai fratelli Edgerton.Un gruppo con i quali ha fatto bene a farsi vedere per essere accettato dai fan del cinema indipendente americano.Poi si riunirà a Cronenberg,la sua fata madrina,per "Maps to the Stars", scritto da Bruce Wagner, figura di punta della nuova generazione di scrittori americani.
Quindi, anche se egli prova un piacere contorto nel nascondersi dietro il carattere astruso e tormentato, Pattinson non manca di determinazione e sta costruendo una carriera che comincia ad assomigliargli. Dopotutto, anche Di Caprio è passato attraverso l’orda delle ragazze che gli urlavano dietro e Brad Pitt ha mostrato le natiche in "Thelma e Louise"e anche in alcuni episodi di Dallas prima che David Finchne, Neil Jordan e Terry Gilliam gli affidassero ruoli più consistenti.Nessuno li ha biasimati per questo.Dunque possiamo perdonare a Rob Patz il fatto di non aver recitato sempre in grandi film. Soprattutto da quando, ridendo,promette sotto lo sguardo dei suoi nuovi colleghi di sesso femminile di Dior,che farà uno sforzo per quanto riguarda la moda: "Mi piace la moda ma non mi sento a mio agio quando devo essere giudicato per ciò che indosso,così indosso sempre gli stessi vestiti. Guarda, ho questa giacca di Dior che mi è stata regalata e la indosso tutti i giorni!. " Non è mai troppo tardi Rob. Speriamo che seppur con un look impeccabile tu non perda mai la tua franchezza. "Mesi fa, ho iniziato a disegnare abiti da donna,abiti di alta moda” dice scoppiando a ridere “Certamente era un segno del fatto che stavo per avere una crisi di nervi”.
Fragile, toccante e irresistibilmente sexy suo malgrado,Pattinson,idolo delle ragazzine,è finalmente diventato uomo.

Not the best moment to become the face of an important perfume brand, lend his face (for a lot of money) to Dior Homme and see his image on every billboards around the world? Well, not really. Of course, Dior is not the first to solicit Rob Patz. Before, others certainly thought about making money off of the huge popularity of the Twilight actor. The movie he directed is indeed a champagne bobble, a concentrate of coolness with sixties influence in which Rob and model Camille Rowe are being playful, smoke cigarettes, drive carelessly an old BMW convertible on the beach... A very New Wave atmosphere, seductive and fresh. Like a groupie, the actor expresses his admiration for Gravas the anarchist : "He sees the world in a complete different way. he's very confident. Fragile like a young girl in love, Pattinson has that combination of passion and extreme lucidity that make his professional day to day life difficult.
